New Executive Director Named for Ohio Wildlife Center

Lolita Haverlock

Ohio Wildlife Center’s Board of Trustees has selected Lolita Haverlock as the new Executive Director of the Center after a nationwide search conducted by the Benefactor Group.

“We have recruited a passionate, energetic leader who will be able to guide the Ohio Wildlife Center to new levels of success,” noted board chair Valerie Swiatek.

Haverlock obtained her bachelor’s degree in Zoology from The Ohio State University and previously served as a volunteer with Ohio Wildlife Center. She most recently was Senior Vice President of Operations for the YMCA of Central Ohio and Regional Vice President of Operations. During a 20-year career with the YMCA she served in various management and administrative roles in Central Ohio and nationally with YMCA of the USA. She has a master’s degree in Public Administration from Ohio University.

“She brings to our organization real-life, hands-on experiences developing operational strategies, competently leading successful teams, problem solving, and setting and achieving fundraising goals,” Swiatek said. “She worked with all 13 YMCA branch advisory boards, ensuring all branches met community needs on all levels. Her executive level management experience has left no stone unturned,” Swiatek added.

Swiatek noted that the search focused on an executive director with competencies that included a passion for the mission, high business acumen, solid fundraising experience, a thorough understanding of the importance of teamwork, relationships and cultures, collaborating with boards and serving as the overall face of the organization.

“We have found these talents in this new leader,” Swaitek said.

“I am honored to be given the opportunity to lead the Ohio Wildlife Center,” Haverlock said. “I am proud to work alongside such a great team of staff and volunteers, as I recognize that hard work and dedication is the foundation of this organization.”

“I am excited and look forward to not only continuing the great work, but taking Ohio Wildlife Center to a new level,” she added.
