The Impact of Legacy Gifts

Legacy gifts pave the way for the future care of tens of thousands of wild animals in distress. They can honor a beloved family member or friend and help ensure we continue our mission to benefit future generations for those who value wildlife and the natural environment.

Including Ohio Wildlife Center in your estate plan is a unique way to sustain your values, honor the purpose of wildlife care and advance the work of the organization. An estate gift is a self-directed opportunity to do even more to protect wildlife for years to come. These gifts are stewarded with the care and integrity you expect, to accomplish the goals you desire.

Legacy Gift Options

There are several ways to create a legacy gift through your estate or financial plans for Ohio Wildlife Center:

  • Being named as a beneficiary in your will
  • Being named as a beneficiary in a life insurance policy
  • Being named as a beneficiary in a trust
  • Being named as a beneficiary for stocks, bonds, IRA accounts, mutual funds or other securities

Bequests

Through a specific bequest, you can name a particular dollar amount or percentage of your estate for Ohio Wildlife Center.

Through a residuary bequest, you can give all or part of what remains after you provide for your loved ones.

Codicil

A current will can be amended with a codicil to add a designation for Ohio Wildlife Center.

Beneficiary Designations

Beneficiary designations for life insurance, IRA accounts, financial and retirement assets directed to Ohio Wildlife Center can often be made through online documentation through a change-of-beneficiary form or by consulting with your advisor, insurance agent, financial planner or estate attorney.

Beneficiary designations would name Ohio Wildlife Center as a primary or secondary beneficiary and include the formal name, address and tax identification number.

Life Insurance Gift Vehicle

Life insurance gift vehicles can also be made by transferring ownership of an existing policy, or purchasing a new policy and designating Ohio Wildlife Center as the owner of the policy.

Stocks & Securities

Stocks and securities may be donated or transferred directly to Ohio Wildlife Center. Contributing securities that have appreciated can generate tax savings through a direct donation to a nonprofit. Your broker or financial advisor can provide information on potential tax and income benefits from these giving options.
