IRA Gifts

Giving a Lasting Gift with an IRA

The qualified charitable distribution option (QCD) under current law offers those 70 ½ or older who have an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) a way to reach charitable giving goals and meet required IRS minimum distribution requirements.

Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an IRA

QCDs are limited to $100,000 per person per year, and $200,000 for couples with separate IRAs. Your IRA qualified charitable distribution may be transferred directly to Ohio Wildlife Center to help wildlife and realize tax benefits in return.

Eligibility

For this giving option:

  • You must be 70 ½ years or older when the gift is transferred
  • Gifts must be made and received by December 31 of each year
  • You may transfer up to a maximum of $100,000 to qualified charities per year

By directing some or all of your Required Minimum Distribution directly to a nonprofit charity, such as Ohio Wildlife Center, you can use this gift to satisfy all or part of your requirement for the annual distribution from your IRA. Since this gift does not count as taxable income, it can also reduce your annual income level.

How To Make a Gift from an IRA

To make a gift from your IRA to Ohio Wildlife Center, contact your IRA administrator to set up a direct transfer from your account. Your IRA administrator can send the funds by a check made payable to Ohio Wildlife Center. The check should be mailed to:

  • Ohio Wildlife Center, 6131 Cook Road, Powell, Ohio 43065
  • Tax ID Number: 31-1182372

To determine if an IRA gift to charity will meet your charitable goals, please consult your tax and financial advisor or your IRA custodian.
