Opossums are the only marsupials native to North America. Their young are born before they are fully developed, and they stay in a pouch on the mother’s belly for up to three months prior to emerging to feed on their own.
Female opossums that are hit or killed by cars in the spring and summer months often have live young in their pouches, and those infants need to be brought to OWC's hospital. In order to keep the infants warm, please bring to OWC still inside the mother's pouch.
OWC relies on individual donations; we would greatly appreciate a monetary donation to help with animal care.
Our Hospital is located at 2661 Billingsley Rd., Columbus, 43235. We are open from 9am to 6pm Monday through Friday and from 9am to 3pm on weekends
Thank you for caring about Ohio’s wildlife!
